Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of Stoa, an app and website operated by The Life of Piet (Pietro Soli), Denmark. By using Stoa you agree to them.
What Stoa is
Stoa lets you have conversations with AI personas of historical thinkers, built from public-domain sources. The personas are AI reconstructions, not the real people. They can be inaccurate or incomplete and are provided for reflection and learning. Stoa does not provide medical, legal, psychological, financial, or other professional advice; do not rely on it as such.
Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 16. Keep your login secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
Subscriptions & payment
Stoa offers a free tier and paid auto-renewing subscriptions. Purchases in the iOS app are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; manage or cancel them in your Apple account settings at least 24 hours before the period ends. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies.
Acceptable use
- Do not use Stoa for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes.
- Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service.
- Do not misrepresent the AI's output as the genuine words of the real historical person.
Intellectual property
The Stoa name, owl mark, design, and software are ours. Source texts used to build personas are in the public domain. You keep ownership of what you write; you grant us the limited right to process it to provide the service.
Disclaimers & liability
Stoa is provided "as is" without warranties. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the previous 12 months.
Termination
You may stop using Stoa anytime. We may suspend or end access for breach of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, with disputes subject to the Danish courts, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have.
